JUST INTONATION, TIME LAG ACCUMULATORS, AND THE ELECTRIC HARPSICHORD OF CATHERINE CHRISTER HENNIX

Most 'Western' Musics are based upon the equally tempered scale.  This is the result of the keyboard-centric creation of most of the music made since about the 18th century.  This equally tempered scale that we are accustomed to is actually slightly out of tune with regards to natural harmonics.

Just Intonation makes use of natural harmonics and acoustic laws to determine what's 'in tune'.  If you are familiar with the works of La Monte Young or Pandit Pran Nath  you know what I am referring to.

In July, the good people of Die Schachtel blessed us earthlings with Catherine Christer Hennix's drone masterpiece 'The Electric Harpsichord'.

This essential document of early American Minimalism was recorded in 1976 and consists of Just Intonation tuned keyboards channeled through 'time lag accumulators'.

Just what in the hell is a 'time lag accumulator'?

Apparently it is also possible to create one using Ableton as well!

This is a fascinating tangent to explore.

Most of the music we hear on a daily basis is produced and processed until what remains is a soulless, plastic nothing.

Bastard soundwaves filling the space yet leaving us empty.

Akin to fast food, it's garbage!

This has a negative effect on our brains.

Lucky for us, the human brain has been shown to respond very well to wholesome and organic entitites.

This goes for Music as well as food.

It's probably been awhile since you've breathed deep, shut out the lights, and relaxed.

Time to unwind your Mind.

Check out Catherine Christer Hennix's 'Electric Harpsicord' below.

For best results, listen at 100 dB.

Your brain will thank you.

This fine document is available through the ever-awesome Forced Exposure in a fine white box containing a 56 page book and the CD.  Very limited.
