Here is some truly unhinged, insane Music that really has no parallels.
I have been revisiting Japan's infamous Boredoms (ボアダムス) lately and realizing just how awesome they were.
The Boredoms (or V∞redoms) you may hear today are completely different from the Boredoms you would've heard in the early 90's.
Eye and Company have seemed to morph into some weird tribal drum circle acid trance psychedelic hippy-fest.
However, they started out as a completely different animal.
Yamantaka Eye first came to notoriety in the mid 80's as lunatic frontman for Japanese noise legends Hanatarash.
At a 1985 show in Tokyo's Superloft, the audience was required to fill out waivers due to impending danger (ala DethKlok). This show was actually stopped with Eye throwing a lit molotov cocktail on to the stage! Now that's punk rock.
After Hanartarash's demise, Eye went on to form the Boredoms, who managed to permeate American Indy Rock consciousness through alliances with John Zorn and Sonic Youth, touring with Youth and Nirvana in 92-93.
Amazingly, they eventually infiltrated Lollapalooza, playing the main stage in 1994.

Hanatarash had a brief but amazing career causing unparalleled destruction to ear drums and concert venues.
The band came to an end because they were eventually prohibited from performing anywhere.
They quickly acquired a notorious reputation for totally over-the-edge danger and mayhem.
Some of their more infamous shows included Eye cutting a dead cat in half with a machete, strapping a circular saw to his back and almost cutting his leg off, and most impressively driving a bulldozer through the backwall of the venue onto stage and then using it to hurl debris at the audience!

'Pop Tatari'was the Boredoms major label debut on Reprise from 1992. This is probably one of the most insane albums ever released by a major label. It makes 'Trout Mask Replica' seem positively quaint and normal.
Major props to the A & R who pulled this one off.
It is kind of difficult to adequately describe the Boredoms sound from this period.
Lots of screaming, abrupt changes, turntable damage, tape manipulation, liberal doses of punk and hardcore, a little funk, some fuck you, chanting, grooves, kazoo, lots of percussion, and a number of other unidentifiable elements make up this insane witches brew.
Somehow it all works (if you are in the right frame of mind).
If you're in mood for something a little different, and on the freak-out tip, check this out. It's a Classic.
Good Luck!
